  • Lots of activities will be taking place in Abu Dhabi.

Since opening in 1980, the venue has become the premier destination, not just in Abu Dhabi but in the UAE with rugby, football and bowling just a handful of sports on offer.

Every year, hundreds flock to the capital either to train in the state-of-the-art facilities or to compete in one of many community events.

And there will be more reasons to visit when the ZSC Academy begins from September 6.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced athlete, there is something for everyone for adults and children.

For tennis players, you will not be spoilt for options with up to 800 coaching sessions per month, offering high performance squad as well as private, semi-private and group lessons.

There are also females only sessions, while also on the agenda are special classes for kids from as young as three years-old.

For those, who want to get on the ice and skate, you will learn from certified coaches of Ice Skating Institute of Asia.

Based on their successful ‘Learn to Skate’ programme, up to 160 sessions will be held each month, serving more than 300 people.

Open to five-year-olds and above, you can choose from private, semi-private or group lessons, consisting of no more than eight skaters.

Besides hosting sporting events, the venue has also been home of the inaugural National Sports Festival, which attracted hundreds of athletes in November, while the monthly TrainZSC, that see athletes climb the stairs at the national football stadium has been a big hit.

ZSC general manager Barry Bremner is excited by the latest development and is sure the academy will be a big success.

“Our track-record of delivering impactful and memorable experiences around sports and entertainment and a growing public demand for high quality coaching has led us to launch ZSC Academy,” he said.

“Projects such as Abu Dhabi Wilson Tennis Cup, Learn to Skate and our community-focused sports programmes including National Sports Festival and TrainZSC allow us take on this venture with confidence. I have no doubt that, like these other projects, ZSC Academy will also deliver excellent programmes.”
