  • Burning up under the Burj: Inspiring scenery will inspire you to push on.

With the offseason now over, Talise Fitness have wasted little time in organising their popular Sandstorm event which returns later this month.

Taking place on Friday, September 30, at Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai, athletes can test themselves by climbing, crawling and jumping their way through a series of fun obstacles in teams of two.

Now in its eighth edition, Sandstorm has become a big hit in the Emirates and you can see for yourself why with registration still open.

“The previous editions have proved to be really successful,” said Des Cawley, director of Talise Fitness Operations.

“Since we started it, the Sandstorm has gone from strength to strength and grown immensely. At first, we decided to invite people from the industry to try out the course and now we are getting people who are not also returning but new athletes as well, and that’s great to see.”

Whether you’re an experienced athlete or a beginner, there are three categories to choose from. Proceedings get under way with the competitive teams, open to those who want to win, at 07:00, followed by the intermediate at 08:00 and then the casual sides an hour later.

Don’t miss out: The eighth edition features a number of challenging obstacles.

To enter, participants must be 16 and over with entries costing Dh490 per team.

With a few days to go until the event, Cawley insists it will be a memorable experience, and is urging people to sign up.

“We are doing this in conjunction with MEFIT Health and Fitness Summit, which is the reason why it will be held a bit earlier than usual,” he said.

“It will be hot still but that’s not a reason for people not to be involved. The weather is still warm but the course will see you overcome obstacles on sand, water and land. It will be challenging but will be lots of fun. Entries have been really good so far and we expect a decent crowd as people usually sign up just a few days before the event, which is very normal for any event.”

“This is open to all abilities and it’s a great chance to get fit with the course overseeing the iconic  and Madinat Jumeirah venues. We want people to adopt a fitness exercise as part of their healthy lifestyle I believe this is the good way to kickstart the new season.”
