Think you have what it takes to be the fastest male or female cyclist in Abu Dhabi? If so, get ready to pedal away at the Abu Dhabi Tour Challenge.
The new event, hosted at the capital’s iconic venue of Yas Marina Circuit, will take place over three days this month, beginning Sunday and continuing on October 11 and then on October 18.
While you won’t be behind the wheel, the experience will be similar to a Formula One qualification session as you take a single lap around the 5.5km circuit, which will be recorded by professional timekeepers and chip timing.
The first two days of the Challenge – today and October 11 – will serve as qualifying, with the finale held on October 18, the same day as the 2016 UCI Cycling Gala and the eve of the Abu Dhabi Tour preliminary operations.
If you place as one of the three fastest men and women, you’ll earn a custom trophy, official Abu Dhabi Tour technical materials and the chance to have an exclusive Abu Dhabi Tour VIP experience.
Winners will be awarded at the ceremony on Sunday, October 23, during the final stage of the Abu Dhabi Tour. Register online through www.premieronline.com or on site at Abu Dhabi Sports Council Gazebo at Yas Marina Circuit.
The challenge finale will be held on the same day as the UCI Gala.
Even if you don’t join the Challenge, you can still get in on the action by checking out the Abu Dhabi Tour promotional bus.
From October 7-23, the bus will stop in 13 points of the city to advertise and give away T-shirt with the Abu Dhabi Tour logo. Some of the stops include Yas Mall, Ferrari World, Emirates Palace, Al Ain Zoo and the Corniche main square.
The bus will also operate during TrainYas, held on Tuesdays, and StartYas, taking place on Sunday, at Yas Marina Circuit on October 9, 11, 16 and 18 from 18:00 to 22:00.
