  • State-of-the-art venue: Al Forsan has incredible facilities.

Al Forsan International Sports Resort’s wide variety of competitions and activities has you covered this winter with plenty of sporting action on offer.

The state-of-the-art facility, situated in the nation’s capital, has sporting clay and endurance racing competitions in the coming weeks, as well as a winter camp for kids, an art gallery, a sports academy, fitness classes and off-roading to keep everyone busy.

Want to show off your dead-eye shooting skills? Join the sporting clay competition, which is open to both male and female competitors at Sporting Pavilion 2 and 3 from December 1 onward. Sporting clays simulate the hunting experience as shooters aim for different thrown clay targets across five shooting positions.

Each shooter is given 15 shots for practice and 10 shots in the competitions. The top 10 male and female scorers will then be given the chance to shoot-off in the finals, with up to Dh5,000 and a trophy going to the winners.

Enter now until the end of the year and choose from shotguns of 12ga, 20ga and 28ga. For those that prefer their thrills on the racing track, the 6 Hour Endurance Race is the perfect place for aspiring Formula One drivers.

Taking place on December 9, the competition is sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and features teams of three to six racing on the track over a six-hour period. The winners will walk away with Dh10,000 in prize money, so there’s plenty of incentive to rev your engines.

If you’re a parent and want your child to be active during the holiday season, Al Forsan’s Winter Camp is a great option. Kids aged between four and 14 can learn core values such as sportsmanship, responsibility, team-work and respect, while playing sports and other games in the fully indoor, air-conditioned venue.

Participation will also yield a chance to win medals and trophies and the programme is fully supervised by dedicated counselors. The one-week package is priced at Dh700 from Sunday to Thursday, while two weeks is Dh1,300 and three weeks is Dh1,950.

Al Forsan also has different ongoing events to take part in throughout the week. The La Parole Art Gallery showcases local talent through paintings, sculptures and photography, and has art sessions and workshops available for both adults and children.

Do some pencil sketching, oil and acrylic painting, sculpting workshops and more. Jump Sports Academy, meanwhile, offers classes in football, basketball, gymnastics and parkour at Al Forsan, enabling children to improve their sporting and social skills.

Visit www.jumpsports.ae to learn more. Fitness fanatics can discover their inner zen through yoga and pilates classes, which are both mixed and ladies-only. Finally, off-roading lovers can buckle up and experience a 1.2km circuit full of twists and turns under floodlights for as little as Dh50.

There’s something for everyone at Al Forsan, where the fun doesn’t stop even as the year comes to an end.
