  • Yesterday Pub: Check out the matches in Bur Dubai.

With the World Cup group stage now officially over, attention turns to the knock-out rounds beginning today with Brazil’s clash against Chile in the Round of 16.

And if you’re after a place that has a great atmosphere, then head to Yesterday Restaurant and Pub in Bur Dubai.

Since opening in 2009, Yesterday, situated at Four Points by Sheraton Downtown Dubai, Mankhool Road, the pub has been established as one of the popular venues in the emirate.

Open from noon, and for those aged 21 and over, Yesterday is no stranger to broadcasting live sports. The pub shows major football games, including the English Premier League (EPL) and Champions League as well as cricket and Formula One. And the World Cup is no different.

Meral Gabal, marketing and public relations manager at Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, said: “It’s been a really good turn-out [so far] and the fans are really enjoying themselves. The atmosphere is great and people have said how great it’s been watching the matches which isn’t a surprise given that Yesterday is famous for its live sport.”

Fans will be able to watch the evening matches on six 47-inch televisions as well as three big screens. So wherever you’re standing, you will get a clear view of all goals, cards and incidents during the games.

To add more excitement, Yesterday have lined up various promotions and competitions. For example, if you guess the winning score, you have a chance to get 20 per cent discount on your final bill.

And if you’re after something different, then why not challenge your friends to a game of billiards, darts or table football which are all available inside the venue?

Fans can expect some entertaining matches with Netherlands, Argentina and Germany still in the mix. And Gabal is sure anyone who does watch the matches at Yesterday will be “amazed” with the visit.

She said: “Anyone who hasn’t been to Yesterday Pub will be amazed. The interior design is fantastic, it has a cosy atmosphere and we have a wide selection of beverages and delicious food dishes that will impress customers.”
