  • If you’re looking for a place to catch the big Six Nations action down Al Satwa-Jumeirah way this weekend there isn’t any better atmosphere than The Docks at the Ramada Jumeirah.

The cosy Scott-themed pub has been the home to many Dubai sporting fans over the last six years and with recent improvements and updated menus it is bringing in a whole new clientele.

This Saturday it’s the perfect place to catch the huge Ireland-Wales match from Dublin at 18:15 followed by the Calcutta Cup clash between Scotland and England live from Edinburgh at 20:45.

When you can’t be at a huge sporting event, like the Six Nations, you want to watch it somewhere which makes it feel like you are actually there.

The Docks is such a place.

There’s six big screens so you won’t miss any of the action and the sound is turned up to create an atmosphere like you are actually at Lansdowne Road or Murrayfield.

At The Docks a lot of thought has gone into making the experience of watching big sporting events as exciting as possible.

Seating is comfortable, with everywhere in the establishment having an excellent view of the large screens, and easy access to the serving area.

There’s also a well-lit dart board if you’re feeling a bit of a Phil Taylor “Power” rush.

The food – crucial to any sport watching experience – is also first class.

Executive Sous Chef Gaurang Dilip Vikekar joined the Ramada team nine months ago and has made some shrewd tweaks to the menu at The Docks and the adjoining Cuisines and Asian-fusion Ginger restaurants.

The Murg Makhani, or Butter Chicken as Scots fans might know it, is among the best in town and is a huge favourite at The Docks around kick-off as is the British style Fish and Chips, with perfectly cut steak-fries.

But the smart move is to arrive a little earlier and check out Ginger, which Vikekar has got humming recently with a new Head Chef from Thailand, Prajaak, before taking up your spot in The Docks.

Watching sport can sometimes be a little bit tough on the waist line but at Ginger there are plenty of healthy options from Sushi, such as the tasty Spider Roll (soft shell crab, avocado, cucumber, tobiko), to Aromatic Seabass, (crispy seabass fillet with spicy sweet chili sauce and sweet basil leaves).

There is also the outstanding Asian styled lamb-shanks, taking an old English favourite and spicing it up with a Thai-twist that is both healthy and delicious.

There’s also plenty of great deals at The Docks such as two-for-one Happy Hours from 17:00 to 19:00 every day.

Ginger also has a great value Friday brunch from 12:00 to 15:00 just AED119 with soft drinks, AED229 with all beverages available.

This is followed by Dynasty, Asian-Fusion night at Cuisines.

On Thursday at Cuisines you can try the Butcher’s Block with fresh cuts of Brazilian beef and Australian and New Zealand lamb available for you to choose and then have perfectly cooked at the live grill station – for just AED99.

And this isn’t just a great spot for rugby fans, The Docks is open from 15:00 to 03:00 every day so it’s also a great spot to catch the big Champions League nights coming up over the next weeks and month.

On Tuesday night there is an evening brunch at Cuisines perfect for a delicious and great value pre-match meal, before slipping next door to catch all the Champions League action.
