With Ramadan approaching, Zayed Sports City (ZSC) Academy is offering a fun coaching programme to learn and develop your tennis skills over the Holy month.

To be held every Sunday and Tuesday from May 20 to June 5, the sessions are open to novice and beginners who will learn techniques, tactics and rules while putting your knowledge to the test in fun and friendly matches against the coaches.

Last year proved to be a huge success with 85 per cent of participants saying that would continue playing tennis following the programme. If you want to see why it’s rated so highly, there’s still time to join.

“The ZSC Academy began the Ramadan beginner’s tennis programme last year and we were thrilled that it reached capacity,” said Tony Kouris, general manager of Zayed Sports City.

“The response after it finished was an even bigger compliment. That activity had near perfect ratings with 85 per cent saying they would likely continue playing tennis. We’re looking forward to even greater success this year.”

ZSC Academy has continued to go from strength to strength since launching and Kouris insists the programme is a great step to learning a fun sport.

“Tennis is growing in popularity and while it is easy to get kids into lessons, many adults are interested to learn the sport but don’t know where to start,” he added.

“We developed this programme to be an unintimidating introduction, with professional and friendly coaches who can break down the game into simple components. The Ramadan beginner’s tennis programme is about getting adults into the sport, making it fun and a part of their lifelong health.

“Hosting it in Ramadan is intentional as well. Health is one of many blessings we have and at a time when it would be otherwise easy to let exercise slide on the list of priorities, this programme is a great option for bringing it back into focus.”

Classes take place between 22:00 and 23:00 and costs Dh630. With more than a week to go until the first class, Kouris says there are many reasons why you should join.

“Any adult that wants to give tennis a try is certain to benefit,” he said. “We’ve designed it specifically for adult learners, presenting technical and tactical elements in a fun and relaxed environment, and we’ve considered pricing and timing carefully to make sure that tennis is achievable for everyone during the holy month.”
