The Yas Links Senior Open is back for another edition, giving players young at heart a day of competition and fun with their peers.

    – #Quiz360: WIN brunch for two at the Capital Centro Hotel, Abu Dhabi
    – #360view: Sense of anti-climax is a disservice to Mayweather’s genius

Teeing off at the lush greens of Yas Links in the nation’s capital on Saturday, May 16, the tournament will be a stroke play event played over 18 holes.

Open to all male and female amateur golfers aged 50 years and older with a valid handicap, the Senior Open is great for those wanting to compete and socialise.

“The Yas Links Senior Open is a great platform for the golfing community above the 50-plus age bracket to battle it out for bragging rights and awards, or just enjoy the day,” said Carly Tjader, sales and marketing and relationship manager at Yas Links.

“The day offers extreme value with a discounted rate from our rack, an ideal tee time, plus lunch buffet and prize presentation. Last year was our inaugural event and it was a huge success.

“Not knowing how it would be subscribed, we were very excited to see the popularity. It’s not always the case but sometimes certain ages, due to ability and golf course banter, like to play and compete together, so we’ve created that experience at Yas Links, just like the Junior Open.”

Competition and more: Play for fun also.

Both male and female winners with the lowest gross score will earn the title of Senior Open Champion and receive prizes. The entry fee is Dh100 for Yas Links members, Dh350 for Emirates Golf Federation members and Dh450 for all other guests.

Included in the fee is one round of golf on the Championship Links Course, a lunch buffet after play, pre-course warm up practice on the driving range, a range and shared golf cart with GPS and prizes for ladies and men’s gross and net winners.

Registration closes midnight on Wednesday, May 13, but entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. To enter, contact [email protected] or call 02 810 7710. Participants will be notified of tee-off times on Thursday, May 14 and the tournament will begin early in the morning with a 07:30 shotgun start on Saturday.

Tjader said: “We do anticipate the great demand from our current membership and other golfers with a valid handicap certificate so we urge those interested to sign up as soon as possible.”
