  • Swim:Run - Fitness with fun.

Whatever your age, don’t miss out on next month’s Pink is Punk Swim:Run event, which not only promises to be better than ever, but your participation will make a huge difference to somebody’s life.

    – Car of the week: Hyundai Sonata 2.0-litre Turbo

    – Lifestyler: Multi-tasking stretch for athletes

So far, more than 120 people have signed up and will flock to the Anantara, The Palm Resort and Spa in Dubai on Friday, October 9, but there’s time to join them with registration still open.

With all funds raised donated to the Safe and Sound Breast Cancer awareness campaign, organisers Ignite are calling everyone to get involved.

Besides the three events – Open, Sprint and Junior which will see the participants compete in various distances in swimming and running – there is an extra incentive for those who compete in the Fun Run.

Whether you walk, run or jog in the Fun Run, Ignite are encouraging all to bring their props, costumes and their fun gear as the best fancy fun dressed will win an afternoon high tea experience at the Burj Al Arab.

    Registration is still open.

“Whether it is wearing a full costume of one’s favourite superhero or daring to create your own fancy fun dress from head to toe, parents, children of all ages and even sports teams are welcome to enjoy this friendly competition,” said Guillaume Mariole, founder and managing director for Ignite fitness & wellness.

“We want to see how creative you can be.” He added: “Pink is Punk’s aim is to support the noble cause of breast cancer awareness by promoting sports and healthy lifestyles. Having Burj Al Arab on board this year for this amazing prize is another great reason to join the event. Besides, the venue at Anantara The Palm is beautiful so I’m sure everyone will have a great time.”

Now in its fifth edition, the event has gone from strength to strength with growing numbers of competitors and companies involved in the proceedings.

Ian Spendlove, founder and chief executive officer of Showforce, whose company has supported the project since the first edition, said: “Everything about this day is good for so many reasons. All ages get to participate in the Swim:Run and all for a cause that has probably touched so many families in this world.”

Entry fees vary between Dh70 and Dh250, and all participants will receive a goody bag, while prizes will be up for grabs in each category.

And if you’re not competing, then why not purchase a ticket and watch the action unfold? Tickets will be available on the day or online.
