Start the new year on the right foot by running and cycling in the third Giant Duathlon Series race of the season. Held in a run/bike/run format, the event will take place this Friday, January 8 at the D1 Cycle Track of Nad Al Sheba.

The race is aimed at triathletes, duathletes, cyclists, running and all fitness enthusiasts ranging in age, experience with a field in excess of 100 anticipated. Competitors can either race solo or in teams of two and take part in as many races as they would like.
Children aged 12 and younger can go against one another in the quarter distance, made up of a 750 metre run, six kilometre bike ride and 750m run.
A longer course is available for ‘Tweens and Teens’ aged 10 to 14, with a 1.5km run, 12km bike and 1.5km run. Adults can experience the full distance for ages 15 and older, consisting of a 3km run, followed by a 24km bike ride and capped by a 3km run.
For those who want to compete in pairs, the course for an all-male, all-female or mixed team is also the full distance, offered for ages 13 and above.
The top-five teams in each age group, along with the top-five male and female individual finishers, will receive points that carry over in the series. When the series wraps up with the final race on April 15, trophies will be awarded to the first, second and third-place overall finishers in each category.
Competitors’ four best races out of the six will count toward their points total, with the final event featuring double points. Registration, which closes at midnight of Wednesday, January 6, can be completed at www.premieronline.com.
Included in the registration is a medal, photo download, goody bag and refreshments. Race pack collection will be bright and early on the day of the race, beginning at 06:45. The start time for the event is scheduled for 07:15.
Even if you’ve yet to compete in the series, you still have the opportunity to get four races under your belt, accumulate points and take home silverware. Start your campaign with Race 3 and get active in the new year.

Fourteen-time grand slam winner Rafael Nadal headlines the field at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship and besides watching the action, there are a wide array of activities on offer as well as fantastic prizes to be won.
