Fresh from his 16th place finish at the Dubai Desert Classic, Wiesberger and his team featuring Christian Pertl, Stuart Deeson and Mark Rix beat ADSC 3 and ADSC 4 by four shots (21-under par) to claim victory in Abu Dhabi.
Wiesberger was delighted to compete at the tournament in support of nine-time major winner Player, with the money raised helping to build a new sports centre for Zayed Higher Organisation in the capital.
“I had great fun out there on what was a beautiful golf course. Speaking on behalf of all the professionals, I think everyone really enjoyed it and the money raised is for a great cause,” said Wiesberger.
Chasing the lead for the large parts of the day, ADSC 3 led by Emma Cabrera-Bello, sister of Rafa who was joint second at the Dubai Desert Classic on Sunday, finished level on 17-under par with Gregory Havret’s ADSC 4.
“These events are so well run and it’s an honour to be part of it. I’m happy my team pulled a great score and we were top of the leaderboard. I had great fun and the course was amazing,” said Cabrera-Bello.
“I think the distance was very good for us ladies pros. We had a couple of long holes but many were very reachable. It must have been a piece of cake for the guys.”
Golfing icon Player hailed the event as a great success as the foundation sets to raise in excess of $100m (Dh367m) for charities worldwide over the next few years.
“The event has been a great success. This will help raise money to build a new sports centre here in Abu Dhabi. The Zayed facility is outstanding. We are so impressed at manufacturing things,” said the 80-year-old South African.
“With the support of trusted partners such as Abu Dhabi Sports Council we are able to deliver world-class golf experiences and in doing so create powerful fundraising platforms.
“This event will be the first of a long and successful journey here. The players came out, men, women, celebrities, professionals. It’s been an absolutely wonderful day to come back to a course I designed.”
Meanwhile, three teams were tied for fourth place on 15-under par, including Ryder Cup-winning captain Paul McGinley’s An Laith.
The longest drive award went to Tala Salloum and the nearest to the pin winner was former England batsman Jonathan Trott.
