  • Dominant: Dubai Creek team.

The strong Dubai Creek team raced to a 3.5-0.5 lead at the end of opening leg match at JGE.

Needing to score just one more point in their second leg at home, their star pairing of Rayhan Thomas and Miki Mirza, both former Emirates Golf Federation Order of Merit champions, provided them the win in the opening match.

In the end, Dubai Creek secured a 2.5-1.5 result in the second leg to win by 6-2.

The Scratch League gives all golf clubs in the UAE the chance to let their best players compete in a four ball format.

After collecting the trophy, John Fellingham, Dubai Creek Scratch Team Captain, commented: “It’s great for us as a team to have won three Scratch League titles in a row.

“However, firstly I must say a big congratulations to JGE. The scoreline of 6-2 did not equate to just how close this fixture was, many of the games went to the last hole and could have gone either way.

“Finally I’d like to thank Stephen (Hubner) and the team at Dubai Creek for their continued support to all of the scratch team members.”

In the opening leg at JGE, in spite of two out of the four games going all the way to the 18th hole, Dubai Creek took the lead, thanks to convincing 6&4 win by Mirza and Thomas and 3&2 win for Max Burrow and Tobias Parkin. Captain Fellingham and Mike McGinley won their match 1-up, while the Lakdawala brothers – Bayhaan and Shezad – battled to halve their match.

In the second leg matches, Mirza and Thomas were 6&5 winners over Chris Alderman and David Story, while Fellingham and McGinley lost 2&1 to Chris Rahm and Griffin Joeseph. Bayhaan and Shezad won 2&1 against Graham Pascal and Charl Downham. The match between Burrow and Parkin and Bilbo Perrot and Chris Willmot finished all square.
