    There’s good news for golfers as the region’s most popular, award-winning tournament and the largest corporate networking event on the greens, the Xerox Corporate Golf Challenge returns next month.

    The first qualifying round of the 2014 Challenge will be held on Thursday, April 3, at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club while the second leg will be on Thursday, April 24 at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai.

    The UAE will host a further three rounds of the competition, to be played at Els Club (Dubai), and Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Yas Links (Abu Dhabi).

    The Xerox Challenge, which is now in its 16th edition, will have 12 qualifying rounds in total. It will also be played in Saudi Arabia (twice), Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and South Africa.

    The top-placed seven pairs in each of the five rounds in the UAE, and the top pair in the seven other qualifiers will play at the two-day Grand Final on December 11 and 12 at Tower Links and Al Hamra Golf Clubs which includes an overnight stay in the magnificent Waldorf Astoria, in Ras Al Khaimah.

    The Grand Final will pit 42 teams and 84 golfers, who will be battling 36 holes to be crowned the 2014 champion as well as a chance to compete in a Pro-Am of an European Tour event.

    And with around 1,000 people expected to play, you have to be at your very best if you want to triumph in this famous event.

    Only players with a valid handicap are eligible to compete in the event and it’s only open to corporate teams. The format of the competition is a pairs Betterball Medal to be played over 18 holes, while the handicap allowance is 3/4 of the player’s index.

    With a renewed vision of putting the ‘corporate back into corporate golf’, this year’s format introduces new features to the overall experience as well as new on-and-off course competitions.

    Andrew Horne, General Manager Xerox Emirates, said: “The 2014 edition of the Xerox Corporate Golf Challenge builds on our strong golf experience over the last 16 years, and this year brings many exciting new experiences for all participants with our 2014 vision of bringing ‘Corporate back into Corporate Golf’.”

    Besides competing, it also provides the opportunity to make a difference to somebody’s life, with proceeds set to go to Noor Dubai Foundation.

    The charity works towards a vision of a world free of avoidable blindness, primarily in developing countries. The tournament aims to raise a sum of $60,000 (Dh220,000) during this year’s edition, which is the cost of one mobile Eye Camp that can deliver 4,000 treatments and up to 500 surgeries for the needy.
