  • Big winners: Members of the Sport2Business team after securing the Inter-Society title.

Sport2Business team of Russell Yeomans, Randall Mohammed, Richard Aybar, Kristi Sealey, Andrew Smolak, Jonathan Coates, Simon Earl and Jonathan Jeffery overcame hot and humid conditions and some great scoring from their rivals to win the Inter-Society Championship at Dubai Creek.

The 12th edition of the annual event, which was first played in 1997, recognises and brings together the various golfing societies from across the region to compete in some light-hearted competition.

There was nothing lighthearted in Sport2Business’s effort though, as they compiled a superb winning team total of 157 points.

A delighted Yeomans said after their victory: “This is a tremendous boost for our society, and a great win to follow up our Conares Sharjah Match Play title in March 2014. This could be the Grand Slam of Society Golf in the UAE.

“A special mention to Simon Earl and Jonathan Jeffrey, who managed an amazing 45 points, but a big congratulations to all of the team for an amazing performance today.”

Making the most of their home course advantage and also displaying some great golf was the Dubai Creek DOGFIGHT society.

Their total of 155 points saw them clinch second place over last year’s runners up, the Indian Golf Society, who finished with a 146-point total.

Apart from the winners, the invitation list this year consisted of JIGGERS, BBGS, KEGS, FIGME Dubai, FIGME UAE and FIGME Abu Dhabi, DREGS, DIGS, Dubai Divots and Dubai Exputts.
