Emirates Golf Federation hosted National Monthly Medal at The Els Club

    On December 27, 2014 the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) hosted the National Monthly Medal at The Els Club. 35 Local Emiratis gathered at The Els Club for a day of competition and recognition for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) National Team accomplishments during 2014.

    The Els Club was in tip-top shape for the December National Monthly Medal as the Club just host the Dubai Open for the Asian Tour Grand Final. This challenging course was designed by the famous Ernie Els and has become a Dubai favorite for it’s tough greens and amazing guest experience.   

    Rashid Hamood won the Best Gross Score Award for the National Medal. Hamood shot a round of 72, even par. Hamood also won both the Runner-Up prize for the Overall Stableford Category and The Longest Drive on hole nine.

    The event was run on a Stableford format and with an impressive score of 39 points Asaad Al Muharrami was December’s Overall Winner. Taking home the Third Place was Khalid Yousuf, after a back-nine count back, with 32 points.

    There was also a Division B (players with a handicap of 15-28) award for the most Stableford points. Winning Division B was Mohammed Al Musharrekh with 32 points.

    In the Junior Division the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) had three juniors play nine holes of Stableford play. Coming in first place was Obaid Al Heloo with 12 points. Finishing in Second Place was Obaid’s sister Reema Al Heloo with 10 points and rounding off the top-three was Khaled Al Mutawa with 5 point. Al Mutawa also won the Nearest To The Pin on hole four. 

    After the event the EGF held a special Awards Ceremony for the 2014 achievements accomplished by the National Teams players. Khalid Yousuf received the Silver Medal and an Award of Acknowledgment for his performance at the 2014 Arab Golf Championship where he received the Silver in the Individual Category. Khalid shot 3-over-par for the four-day event.

    Lastly the UAE Junior National Team (18-Under) was recognized for their outstanding performance at the 2014 GCC Championship where the team won the Gold. Ahmed Skaik and Abdulla Al Qubasi received certificates signed by H.E. Sheikh Fahim Bin Sultan Al Qasimi and the The General Authority of Youth & Sports Welfare.  

    H.E. Sheikh Fahim Bin Sultan Al Qasimi attended the event not only to present the prizes to UAE National Players but also played 18-holes with Khalid Yousuf. H.E. Sheikh Fahim had this to say after the event. “It is a great privilege to play with these young men today.

    "You can see that all of their hard work is paying off. Witnessing these players reaching their goals is a great accomplishment. Congratulations to the entire UAE National Team and to everyone that this involved.”

    This enjoyable event was a great way for all Emirati golfers to get together, compete, and support the best UAE Golfers.
