  • Al Zorah Golf Club, the first new 18-hole course in the UAE in six years, was officially inaugurated on Wednesday by His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman and Supreme Council Member.

The northern emirate’s first golf club is aiming to attract players with competitive prices and picturesque scenery.

Here’s what some of the first people to experience the course had to say.

“It offers something different to the other courses here. There are a thousand flamingos out there today, there are 28 species of birds in the mangroves. You’ve got the peaceful serenity of the surroundings which people appreciate” Mark Chapleski, Troon Golf

“From today, players from around the region, and the world, can make the most of this remarkable course, which is unique for its setting and integration into a bustling seaside community.” Sheikh Humaid, Ruler of Ajman

“The golf course is stunning.. The Par 3s are fantastic and the holes around the mangroves are different to anything in the UAE. It’s playable, the general golfer can really enjoy it.” Scott Sullivan, general manager of ProGolf:

“It plays like a links course, the fairways and greens are really firm. I’d like to see a couple of more bunkers and some semi-rough – then you’ve got a really amazing course.” Euan McIntosh, ex-European Tour professional

“The condition was fantastic. It was windy out there so it was a challenge. I’ve played every course in the UAE and I rate this very highly. Out here in Ajman, I didn’t expect something this good.” Aliraza Khimji, Modest Company

“It’s a wonderful course. I’m over here to play from Morocco, where I have seen other great Troon courses, but this is something totally special.” Farid Bennis, Morocco Golf Services.
