  • Debut: Bloomberg Square Mile Relay in Dubai.

Preparations for the first Bloomberg Square Mile Relay in Dubai are in full swing with corporate teams from across the city set to take part in this unique one-mile (1.6km) race.

The annual event, which takes place in cities all over the world, will be hosted by the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) on Wednesday, 3 February 2016.

Organisers of the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay Dubai are urging city workers to quickly register their company to take advantage of the early-bird rate ending Thursday 14 January, with only one team member needing to sign up to register a team on their website.

The team of 10 runners achieving the fastest cumulative time for 10 one-mile (1.6km) laps of the exciting course will be crowned champions and will not only win bragging rights as the fastest firm in the city, but will also receive a cheque for AED 30,000 to donate to charity.

This is a race like no other, where the one-mile (1.6km) route has been designed for runners to make their way around the iconic DIFC buildings, past cafés and restaurants, into surrounding pathways, and navigate any stairs that come their way.

The Dubai event has been added to the already established global race series which includes London, Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai, with further race venues expected to be announced in 2016.

Nick Keller, MD of the event organiser Square Mile Sport, said: “Excitement for the first Bloomberg Square Mile Relay in Dubai is already building within the corporate community in Dubai.

“The unique relay event taking place in the heart of Dubai’s financial district is a great opportunity for companies to take part in a team-building and corporate networking activity whilst at the same time enjoying the atmosphere and camaraderie.”
