With fitness goals a common resolution for the new year, Nike have launched the Arabic version of their leading app, designed to getting more Arab women fit.

Dubbed as ‘your personal trainer’, the Nike+ Training Club app has been hugely popular with more than 15 million downloads worldwide as aspiring athletes follow the same exercise routines as global tennis stars Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova.

And as part of their new step in reaching out to Arabic-speaking females in the Middle East, the iconic sports brand earlier this week released short videos from three regional athletes on the importance of regular exercise.

and Saudi mountaineer Raha Moharrak all share their moments, training with the app and the goals they want to achieve.

“I am not the kind who can sit without moving for hours,” said Moharrak, who became the first Saudi woman to climb Mount Everest in 2013. “I look for new challenges every day. That motivates me. When I climb I need to know that I can trust my body, so when I am home, I train.”

For Al Nabhani, who travels around the world, competing in tennis competitions, added: “I travel all the time, normally I’m on the road two out of every three weeks. “This makes it quite challenging for me to stay focused and give my one-hundred per cent towards playing one of the majors.

“To overcome this difficulty, I use the Nike+ Training Club app on the go. It’s almost like having my own personal trainer in my pocket. I can do a variety of workouts on my own, anywhere and at any time.”

It’s their words and achievements that Nike hope will inspire women in this part of the world.

“We use these athletes and their amazing stories as they are in the middle of their careers and have achieved a lot and that makes it very inspiring,” said Hind Rasheed, communications manager of Nike, Distributors Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe.

“That is very important because we want this Arabic version to inspire the girls that they are never too old or late to reach their objective.” She added: “Whether the girls are busy and on the go, or not, the app is very popular around the world, delivers excellent results. We wanted to make sure women in the Middle East do not miss out and that’s why we launched this in Arabic.”

With it being free, not only is that one of the biggest advantages, you can also choose from more than 135 workouts, varying from five to 45 minutes long. Whether you’re an experienced athlete or not, Rasheed says there are plenty of positives.

“It’s like your own personal trainer with you,” she said. “You have access to a virtual trainer 24/7 and can use it whenever you want. It’s free and covers all training aspects and that is a big plus. Whether you want to get lean or get strong, or train for a 10k race or a marathon, this app in Arabic is perfect for all abilities.

“Every workout you want is on there and will tell you whether you need equipment or not. We constantly refresh these workouts with new ones every month and make sure they are challenging.”

The app can be downloaded from Google Play or iTunes and you will need to switch your phone setting to Arabic.
