  • There is no shortage of yoga studios in Dubai. As a matter of fact, every now and then there is a new class or routine that adds a new twist to it.

While these innovations and the enormous popularity of yoga may not be a bad thing, often times the correct technique behind each Asanas or postures is lost, and this is where Anca Nitoi, founder and CEO of Breathe Wellness Centre comes in.

Correct technique can make a tremendous impact in your practice and that was something I learned from just one class with Anca.

Her constant guidance and minor tweaks to my technique allowed me to feel the benefits and the sense of rejuvenation that is synonymous with the practice of yoga.

“I recently signed up for an aggregator class that allows students to pick and attend classes at various studios. This is where I realized that though some of the students were regular yoga practitioners, yet their technique was incorrect,” Anca told Sport360.

“Bad technique not just reduces the benefits of the asanas but can also cause harm to the body – exact opposite of what we want. I had this gnawing at the back of mind and I decided to conduct workshops besides regular classes to allow students to understand each posture and help them improve their technique.”

Anca’s hands-on approach is the perfect way to ease students in to yoga, for the key to this practice is to listen to your body, allowing it to contort and relax into each posture gradually.

Her practice initially started with small events, but helping a friend through a terminal illness was the turning point for her.

Anca’s friend eventually succumbed to his ailment, but he demise strengthened her resolve to impart the knowledge of yoga to others to help them enhance their fitness and the overall quality of their lives.

The saturation of yoga in the fitness industry may be worrying to some, but to Anca that is part of the evolution of this exercise.

She said, “Each time something is taught, it is absorbed by the student and evaluated in a new light. Just like evolution in nature, the knowledge of yoga will change as it is passed on to others over time.”

Breathe Wellness may be relatively new to UAE’s fitness scene, but is definitely a place that upholds and promotes the true values of uoga. To learn more about it log on to www.anca.breathe.ae or get in touch with her on [email protected]
