6th annual Wellness Day concludes on a high note at Dubai Ladies Club

    Over 800 ladies attended the 6th annual Wellness Day event that drew attention to women’s health for a productive and happy life.

    This year's Wellness Week was made possible with the support of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) as Platinum Sponsor, further reflecting their commitment to employee wellbeing, further strengthening the work culture and driving business results.

    Lamia Abdulaziz Khan, Director of Dubai Ladies Club said: "It has been a pleasure to host another successful edition of our annual Wellness Day. This event was a fitting conclusion to the first Wellness Week at Dubai Ladies Club.

    "This week reflects the long standing belief of Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Women Establishment, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs that women's health and active living is crucial as it plays a vital role in maintaining the health of her family and society," added Khan.

    His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum once observed that, “We have moved beyond the phase of empowering women. Indeed, we are empowering society through women.”

    DEWA supports and sponsors a wide range of events, programmes, and activities that contribute to empowering women. 

    During the day, ladies benefitted from the large selection of free comprehensive health risk assessments at Wellness Walk to help ladies with early detection and disease prevention. Wellness Walk was sponsored by Medcare Hospital – one of the top ranked hospitals in Dubai.

    The tests examined every aspect of a woman's health from hair, skin, vision and dental to blood pressure, cholesterol, mesotherapy and cryotherapy.

    Onsite doctors and professional such as dermatologists, paediatricians, general surgeons, endometriosis consultants, physiotherapists, gynaecologists and first aid professionals also provided complimentary consultations and referrals as the first step towards early detection and disease prevention.

    A dedicated Kids Wellness Zone delivered edutainment options for young children through a variety of children-focused activities and services.

    Activities included a kids fitness classes such as Les Mill's 'Born to Move' class, fitness Boot Camp, Kids Yoga, Hula Hoop dance alongside a variety of arts & crafts projects and group games such as Tug of War and Obstacle Course racing.

    A dedicated Kids Wellness Zone delivered edutainment options for young children through a variety of children-focused activities and services.

    Wellness Day also featured several healthy food vendors such as Omnia Gourmet, Saladicious, Reemalia, NewB, Coco Express, Right Bite, further reinforcing the message that making healthy choices does not mean taste has to be compromised.

    The most exhilarating aspect of Wellness Day was the full schedule of fitness classes which showcased the wide variety of group fitness classes available to suit the tastes of every woman.

    These classes included Aqua Aerobics, Zumba, Hula Hoop Jams, Belly Dance, TRX, AcroYoga, Hatha Yoga & Pilates as well as complimentary Stand Up Paddling coaching for the day.

    Wellness Day also featured several healthy food vendors.

    For the ladies keen to pursue inner wellbeing and balance, Wellness Day featured a many Wellness Seminars from Energy & Aura Readings, Drawing Analysis Therapy, Pulse Readings as well as enlightening talks on topics such as 'Reprogram Limiting Beliefs', 'Discover the Infinite Potential of Your Mind'; and a special indepth conversation by Denis Murphy on 'Clear Your Fears Instantly'.

    Since its inception in 2003, Dubai Ladies Club has consistently worked towards improving the quality of life of Emirati and expatriate women living in the UAE through in-house events, facilities and pilot projects.

    The events span the fields of art, culture, fitness and educational seminars.

    The primary objective of Wellness Day is to provide all women in Dubai with the opportunity to try new fitness activities, products and health related services with the view to encourage participation and healthy living on a long term basis.
