  • Women can sometimes intimidated and isolated in gyms that are overloaded with men lifting heavy weights and training.

Burn Room in Al Quoz is aiming to provide the antidote to these male-dominated gyms, allowing ladies to be at ease when training.

At ‘Burn Room’ there are punch bags, ropes and medicine balls for those who like to train without going on machines, while the classes involve functional and innovative exercises to help ladies can feel the ‘burn’.

Melissa Trent, who was trying ‘Burn Room’ out for the first time when Sport360 visited, was left impressed with the intensity of the workouts and the design of the gym. “It’s not pink and purple like you’d expect from a ladies-only gym,” Melissa said.

“I like that it’s not girly. The military-style makes you feel energised in comparison to the other gyms I have been to that are just for females. My first experience of this gym has been a sweaty good time.”

Ayyam, who trains regularly at the Burn Room, feels the gym has a unique feel about it, saying: “The ‘Burn Room’ isn’t like any other gym. You don’t have to waste your time on cardio machines like treadmills and bikes that are boring.

“Here you get to kill time by testing your own body weight and ability. This makes it way more fun, especially when you are doing the classes or testing and pushing yourself against other girls.”

Burn Room has only relaunched recently after previously being a mixed gym. Membership levels are already starting to soar due to the affordable packages and appealing classes on offer.

Mona only recently moved to Dubai but has already become a member of the Burn Room after it was recommended by a friend.

“I’ve never been to a ladies gym before so I was intrigued to see what it was like ,” she said.

“I think you can work out better when with just other girls because you are fearless rather than when you are training with men so you can push yourself to the max.

“Everybody’s a much similar level of fitness and strength in the Burn Room, which feels nice as you don’t have to be embarrassed doing any of the exercises.”
