  • Talise Fitness has embarked upon a healthy endeavour with the indoor triathlon.

It’s not every day you can compete with a leading triathlete but Talise Fitness is giving you the opportunity to do so this weekend.

Multiple winner German Till Schramm will be among the participants at the Talise Fitness Indoor Triathlon on Friday and there’s still time to join with registration closing Thursday.

    – VOTE NOW in the 2015 UAE Fit Awards

    – #360fit: Break Through Your Weight Loss Plateau
    – #360fit: Dubai's top running tracks and routes
    – #360fit: How much protein do you need to build muscle?

Open to people of all abilities, the event at Talise Fitness – Madinat Jumeriah will see athletes overcome the three discipline course at the world-class indoor gym facility. Consisting of a five-minute swim in the indoor pool, you will then do a 15-minute cycle on a spin bike before finishing with a 10-minute treadmill run.

Schramm, who was crowned German U-23 champion in 2003, is no stranger to the UAE, often training at Talise Fitness many times during the year.

And having recommended the idea, the 30-year-old is delighted to see the indoor triathlon event go from strength to strength.

“I spend about half the year in Dubai and when I’m here I love to train at Talise Fitness,” said Schramm, who finished second in the Dubai International Triathlon earlier this month.

“The experienced coaches, the great pool and the altitude chamber were key contributors in my latest victories.”

German triathlete Till Schramm will also be among the participants.

He added: “At the beginning of summer I discussed the idea of an Indoor Triathlon with the Talise team to give people a chance to continue to race during the summer.  It went well and the Indoor Triathlon became a monthly chance to push personal limits at Talise Fitness. I look forward to meeting you on Friday and I am sure some of you will give me a great challenge.”

Attractive prizes are also up for grabs with Reebok and METFITPRO vouchers as well as spa membership vouchers. Athletes must be aged 12 and over to enter with entry fees Dh200 for non-members and Dh150 for members. Children aged between 12 and 18 will be charged Dh100.

Having seen more than 100 people sweat it out in previous editions, Matthew Graham, general manager of Talise Fitness at Madinat Jumeirah is confident this will be another success.

He said: “Fitness has become such an important part of the Dubai lifestyle, and people are always looking for something new.

He added: “We are focused on innovation and we want to get the whole fitness community in Dubai involved in our events so the Indoor Triathlon was a natural evolution for us. Giving people a twist on a well-loved sport that allowed more people to enjoy it is our way of encouraging more people to get involved with fitness and have some fun while they are at it.”
