Brad Haddin today became the latest Australian to retire from international cricket on the back of their Ashes defeat in England, following the likes of Ryan Harris, Michael Clarke, Chris Rogers and Shane Watson in ending some form of their career on the world stage this summer.
Taking the gloves from legendary Australia wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist was a huge task for Haddin, but one he relished.
Haddin had to serve as understudy to the aggressive lefty for seven long years, having played his first ODI in 2001 and only taking over as regular keeper after Gilchrist’s retirement in 2008.

Along the way, Haddin made his own history and during 2013 Ashes tour to England, he set a new world record for most dismissals by a keeper in a Test series. Haddin’s 29 dismissals in that series surpassed the benchmark set by fellow Aussie keeper Rodney Marsh (28) against England in their 1982/83 Ashes series in Australia.
In March of this year, Haddin was a member of the Australia side that won the World Cup on home soil, the final being his farewell to limited overs cricket for his country. When Haddin made that announcement it was thought his Test career would be extended, but the Ashes loss to England ended in ignominy for the New South Wales native after the first Test in Cardiff.
Here, Sport360’s resident statistician Mohandas Menon looks over Haddin’s impressive international career that began in January 2001 and ended in July 2015.
