  • Upbeat: Wiese is drawing inspiration from RCB’s two away wins.

David Wiese believes the Royal Challengers Bangalore can finally regain their foothold on home turf despite suffering three straight losses at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Bangalore’s campaign this season started on a poor note as they lost their opening games at home but they have bounced back with two straight away victories.

They return to the Chinnaswamy for back to back games – first against Rajasthan Royals today and against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday and all-rounder Wese feels they are ready for the twin challenge following the victories against Rajasthan (by nine wickets) and Delhi Daredevils (by 10 wickets) last week.

“It is no secret that we have struggled at home so far in this season but we have two good wins under our belt now,” he said yesterday.

“We have back-to-back games now and that is good because we can carry the momentum and keep going forward. We are looking to make the Chinnaswamy Stadium our fortress once again.”

Wiese feels a thoroughness in preparation and the arrival of Mitchell Starc have been key to Bangalore’s turnaround.

The left-arm pacer has claimed seven wickets in three matches but more imp-ortantly injected fresh purpose in the bowling attack.

“Our preparation before the last few games has been really good. We have gone, sat down and been honest with ourselves in saying that we need to improve.

“We have started to analyse oppositions and get good specific game plans in place. Our bowling attack has really stepped up in the last two games.

With Mitch Starc coming in, he has been a massive asset for us as he has led the attack from the front.

“The bowlers have realised we haven’t been good enough at the start of the tournament and we have improved.

“Starc sets the tone for us with the first ball and the other bowlers just feed off him.

“He has been helping the guys out in the nets and it is nice to have a world-class bowler like him around, learn from him and mimic what he does,” Wiese said.
