Children can beat the heat this summer and learn to skate at Zayed Sports City’s Ice Skating Fun Camp.

Based on the popular Learn to Skate programme, which takes place throughout the year, the fun camp provides a half-day of fun ice skating activities.
Open to children between five and 12-years-old, they will be able to learn the basics of skating on ice through games and lessons as well as making new friends.
So far it’s proven to be a huge success since it began on June 28 and there’s still places available for the July 12-16 week.
There are two sessions to choose from – mornings, from 09:00 to 13:00 and afternoons from 13:00 to 17:00 which cost Dh650 for the five days.
Included in the fee are snacks, skates and safety gear.

Zayed Sports City are no strangers to ice-skating. They’ve been holding their Learn to Skate programme for more than 10 years that has gone from strength to strength.
“We have been operating a Learn to Skate programme that is continuing to expand and has been tremendously successful,” said Maria Gedeon, director of marketing at Zayed Sports City.
“The demand is very high for that programme as we had nearly 1,900 registrations.
“The camp programme is a complement to this, extending us into the summer, at a time where our typical once-a-week format doesn’t fit schedules.
“The summer camp reformats the curriculum to provide a more intensive experience.
“They not only learn ice skating skills, but they also gain confidence and make new friends. There is a real, visible improvement in every kid at the end of the session.”
And Gedeon promises it will be an Ice Skating Camp not to be missed.
She said: “Zayed Sports City is popular in the community for very good reason and our staff always give 100 per cent to ensure that the ice skating camp meets our already high standards.
“The coaches have a true passion for what they are doing with the kids and it shows in the interactions and results.
