Get back into the swing of things and test yourself ahead of the new season with Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club’s Summer Open.
So far, 56 people have registered for the 18-hole Stableford event on Friday, August 28 but you can still join them with registration closing on Tuesday.
Now in its eighth edition, the Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club Summer Open has gone from strength to strength and is now one of the most popular tournaments in the hosts’ calendar.
“The Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club Summer Open goes down well every year,” said Mark Ruddy, golf events manager at Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club.
“We always have a good number of entries and this year looks set to be another success as we have had 56 people registered so far.”
The handicap index limit is 28 for men and 36 for ladies, who must have a valid handicap certificate to participate. Besides the top honours, there will be plenty to play for with a variety of prizes up for grabs including the Ladies and Gross winners.
Shotguns are at 07:45 and 15:00 with the tournament open to visitors and members. Entry fee varies between Dh80 to Dh300 and includes golf carts, range balls and dinner.
The competition is open to juniors, Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club members, Emirates Golf Club members and visitors.
For Dh450, you would also get a Preparation Pass, which gives you unlimited golf course and academy access from Sunday to Thursday.

The Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club are no strangers to hosting successful tournaments and Friday’s event will be no different.
“It’s one of our flagship tournaments every year,” said Ruddy.
“It’s a good way for the golfers to test themselves before the actual season starts. It’s going to be a competitive tournament and will be great preparation for golfers of all levels to see where their game is.
“By playing they can see if they need further coaching or need more time practising.”
He added: “They will be playing in one of the finest courses in the UAE, while it will be fun, it will also be competitive. At the moment we have half of the places filled which is great so far. There are plenty of spaces remaining and I suggest to those who are interested in taking part, not to leave it until the last minute and sign up today.”
