UAE national team pair Al Mansoori and Omar shine in No-Gi

    UAE national team pair Zayed Saif Al Mansoori and Nasser Omar were amongst the Emirati winners on opening day of the Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Open (No-Gi) on Friday.

    While Brazilians dominated most of the events, claiming 29 medals in total, Al Mansoori took gold in the white belt 60kg division and Omar triumphed in the white belt 75kg.

    Ahmed Ibrahim Abdalla of Al Forsan Academy won the blue belt 92kg division and Jordanian 

    Basel Fanous, of Team Mirza, was the winner in the brown belt open weight category.

    The Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Open, held at the UAE University in Al Ain, features 194 competitors from 30 countries.

    The UAE fielded 93 fighters, 53 of which are competing in white belt, 25 in blue belt, 10 in purple, three in brown and one in black.

    “The 2015-2016 UAE jiu-jitsu season has got off to a great start,” said Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, the vice president of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation.

    “The organisation of the event has been brilliant so far and I look forward to the second day of action.”
