  • The 2014 race at Yas Marina Circuit was a championship decider.

Yas Marina Circuit chief executive officer, Al Tareq Al Ameri says preparations for this year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix are on track and 2015’s edition will “raise the bar”.

The Abu Dhabi race has become a firm favourite on the sport’s calendar and has been regularly singled out for praise by F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone.

And with little more than two months to go, before the world’s elite F1 drivers hit the town for the November 29 race, Al Ameri is confident of putting on a show.

He said: “Everything is ticking along and hopefully we can deliver a successful event. Every year we raise the bar with the standards and we are looking for another success.

“Spectators will know what kind of event they will get and hopefully we will raise the bar.

“We have started our planning a lot earlier in some elements and have planned carefully in some things as we don’t want to take anything for chance.”

The UAE race is once again the season-finale but with Lewis Hamilton holding a commanding lead in the drivers’ championship it is unlikely to replicate the drama of last year’s title decider.

But Al Ameri said: “We don’t always have the decider at Yas Marina Circuit but in all of our events we delivered something and people enjoyed it as it was exciting for them. But for me, whether there’s a decider or not, there’s always something happening in the race itself and with places still to play for in the championship.”
