  • Yas Marina Circuit isn’t the only place to get your Formula One fix this week.

Open daily until Sunday from 17:00 (16:00 on Thursday and Friday), there’s every reason to visit. Offering thrills and spills, not only are there plenty of activities to keep everyone busy but they are also free to enjoy.

If you want to know what it’s like to be behind the wheel, then hop on to one of the simulators for an unforgettable experience. Manoeuvre sharp corners, fire down the straights and pull off a wheel spin with the life-like visuals and sound effects making you feel like Lewis Hamilton.

The fun doesn’t stop there. At the Batak stands, go head-to-head with your friends for 60 seconds in interactive performance games that tests your reaction time, fitness and flexibility.

On top of that, get to grips with what it takes to be in the pit lane. Learn how the engineers change tyres on an F1 car in a real-life pit stop challenge as you race against the clock.

And while there are various activities to choose from as well as live music, you can witness all the action – from practice to the race itself from Yas Marina Circuit live on the big screen.

Mercedes team-mates Hamilton and Nico Rosberg will battle it out for the title in the season-finale in what promises to be a thrilling race. World champion Hamilton trails his rival by 12 points following his triumph in Brazil in the last round but knows a victory in the capital will not be enough if Rosberg finishes third.

With plenty to play for, you can watch the action unfold on bean bags or special tyre seats in what is sure to be a vibrant atmosphere.

As part of the Yasalam festival, Reeva Bains, vice president of marketing and communications at FLASH Entertainment, insists it’s an opportunity not to be missed.

“At the F1 Fan Zone, festival goers can take in the thrill of the races for free with an array of simulations, games and fitness challenges and the Urban Art Zone brought to you by Yas Mall is perfect entertainment for children and their parents too,” she said.

“It doesn’t end there as this year, we have an impressive line-up of Beats on the Beach, local and international artists, plus there is The Hangout, which is the perfect place to refuel, enjoy live performances and soak up the vibe. With all that’s happening at the Corniche the whole capital can be part of the 2016 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix excitement.”
