  • Positive experience: Sheikh Khalid bin Faisal Al Qassimi.

Sheikh Khalid bin Faisal Al Qassimi was forced to retire from the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge in the middle of leg 4 as a result of a broken gearbox.

Al Qassimi was in sitting in 4th place overall at the start of leg 4 after being the 3rd fastest driver in “Qasr Al Sarab” stage in leg 3.

Sheikh Khalid said: “We were unlucky today, but to have technical problems is par for the course in motorsports unfortunately and sometimes we just have to accept it.

“Overall looking back over the last 3 days the experience has been very positive.

Al Qassimi was in sitting in 4th place overall at the start of leg 4 after being the 3rd fastest driver in "Qasr Al Sarab" stage in leg 3.

“Bearing in mind it is my first time competing in this kind of Rally, to be only 3 minutes off a podium position on at the start of day 4 was a very good result.

“I would like to thank everyone involved particularly Abu Dhabi Sports Council for all their support, we wouldn’t have been able to participate without it.”
