We are back after a rather long break from racing action for Round 2 and 3 of the UAE Sportbike Championship this weekend.

Round 2 was postponed last month due to a clash with the Qatar Championship so we’ll be racing on Friday and Saturday this time around.

It’s been a case of getting back to the grind recently and I’m feeling well prepared for these rounds as I have managed to practice out on the track a few times. My pace was decent but we believe that the settings of the bike should be slightly altered as the track that we will race this weekend is the GP track at Dubai Autodrome – the longest track.

I tried a few changes on the bike with the team, because recently it felt as though it had lost some grit compared with the start of the season. It is not a big deal as it can happen with changes in the weather and we have also putting a lot of mileage on the bike.

The focus on the technical aspects of the bike is crucial, but I took most of the time off focusing on my physical condition as well. My main aim is to improve my stamina and endurance during the race. I believe the training has been very rewarding, with my sponsors Fitness First helping me with some specific race endurance workouts. Let’s see how things will turn out this weekend.

Mental preparation is also vital when it comes to competing on a good level. Off the track, there have been a few distractions as I’ve been trying to secure a couple of new sponsorship deals. We’ve had some interest but nothing has been confirmed as yet.

It would be a major boost both financially and mentally – worrying about this issue can be draining and we need to be in the right state of mind for the championship.

Nonetheless, I am just excited that I am back doing what I love and can’t wait to return to racing. We are ready to take this Championship by storm!
