  • Fehaid Al Deehani is 49 years of age.

After winning double trap bronze in Sydney 2000 and trap bronze in London 2012, Kuwaiti shooter Al Deehani is finally an Olympic gold medallist and he did it in sensational fashion, overcoming difficult conditions before and during the competition to triumph in the double trap.

Prior to the Games, it was unclear whether Kuwaitis would be allowed to compete at all in Rio due to the suspension of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee but Aldeehani and eight compatriots got a late okay from the IOC to compete under the Olympic flag.

It is a shame that after seeking gold since 1992, Al Deehani was unable to listen to his country’s national anthem when he finally managed to top the podium.
