  • UAE Falcons coach Kai Trompeter has revealed the newly-formed national team are planning a number of fixtures in 2013 in the wake of their first ever game against Kazakhstan.

Four touchdowns in the middle two quarters gave the UAE a comfortable 28-0 win and a new peak for a sport that has come on leaps and bounds over the last six months.

The victory comes off the back of the opening of the inaugural Emirates American Football League (EAFL) that started in September with the first game being played over a month ago.

UAE Falcons were comprised of players from the four league teams, making the EAFL a feeder for the national team that had previously played just one game, last March against Turkey.

Trompeter said: “We are talking to Egypt, and we have preliminarily agreed to play Saudi Arabia, I would prefer to play them in March and April and then in May fly to Kazakhstan and play Russia as well.”

Blooding two Emirati players – Atef Al Braiki and Mohammed Al Tigani – as well as 15 other nationalities, the Falcons dominated proceedings at Jebel Ali Shooting Club, especially on the ground.

Running 171 yards to Kazakhstan’s 58 the UAE’s Mahmoud El Monem was particularly lethal with two touchdowns.

Trompeter added: “It was the first game so there was a lot of nerves. “If you go with the ball through the air, the nerves will show even more, so we got the ball on the ground where it’s more secure and make contact a. That was the philosophy.”
