  • Dubai’s Victory Team stable cornered all three positions on the podium in the Dubai Duty Free Speed Cat Run at round five of the UIM XCAT World Series in Arona, Italy on Saturday.

Rookie Salem Al Adidi and throttleman Talib Al Sayed piloted Victory Team 33 to their first-ever win, with Fazza and Skydive Dubai finishing second and third respectively.

Victory Team 33 defeated the Italian combination of Matteo Nicolini and Tomaso Polli in the first round before getting the better of Consul Brokers in the semi-final.

In the final, Al Adidi and Al Sayed held their nerve to stave off the challenges from team-mates and series leaders Arif Al Zafeen and Mohammed Al Marri of Fazza.

“From official practice this morning we anticipated that one of the Victory boats would be in the top three because we could see the speed and acceleration was good,” said Al Sayed.

“So we were a bit confident that one of us would win. What we have is the latest revised version of the Victory Team boat. We have done improvements on the boat – it’s one of the fastest boats right now, but I have a new colleague who has done only four races.”

The Emaar Pole Position will be held today at 1:15pm UAE time. The European Grand Prix will be held at 6.30pm UAE time.
