Euro 2016 kicked off with some cracking goals while there was a shock for England and some history for smaller nations Wales and Iceland. Unfortunately, it was not all celebrations and smiles as fan violence also marred some games.

The Pittsburgh Penguins beat the San Jose Sharks 3-1 to claim a 4-2 series win and lift their fourth Stanley Cup.

The ice hockey world paid tribute to Mr Hockey, Gordie Howe, who died at 88.

Elsewhere, Ireland celebrated a piece of history as they beat South Africa to claim a first-ever win in the Rainbow Nation.
