  • (L-R): Riddick Bowe, Roy Keane and John Starks.

A winner through and through, Keane hoarded trophies during his glittering career.

Turning 45 today, the former defensive midfielder is the joint-most successful Irish footballer in history, with 19 major trophies in his cabinet. A whopping 17 of those trophies came during his time with Premier League club Manchester United, where he captained the squad from 1997 until he left in 2005.

One of his finest moments came when he guided Manchester United to the treble of Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League glory. His presence helped the English giants turn into a dynasty that produced trophies year in and year out.

After leaving for Celtic in 2005, he played less than a year before retiring.

Keane was appointed assistant manager of the Republic of Ireland national team in 2013.
