  • Ready to go: The UAE national jiu-jitsu team will be competing over nine months.

The Jiu-JItsu President’s Cup is the latest addition to the sporting calendar for what will be another busy 2016-17 season in the UAE.

Open the UAE clubs and national players, the event will consist of three rounds with matches on August 27, December 24 and March 4, the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) revealed yesterday.

Six home competitions including November’s Martyr’s championship in Abu Dhabi and the Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah events will also be held over the next months as the governing body continue their push in raising the sport’s awareness.

While the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam will have an additional round in the capital in January, the IPIC Arena will again host the World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship between April 14 and 23.
