  • Aerial acrobatics: The Red Bull Air Race will delight fans all over the world with its return this year.

To mark the return of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship, the Abu Dhabi Corniche will come alive with the Adrenaline Zone from February 23.

The world series returns from a three-year hiatus with the first round in Abu Dhabi from February 28 – March 1, which will be headlined by a concert by Arab superstars Nancy Ajram and Ramy Ayach on February 28 at the Corniche.

It will be the seventh time that Abu Dhabi has hosted the Air Race, which was suspended in 2010 as Red Bull conducted a review of safety measures with new rules being implemented for its return that will prevent the eleven competing pilots from exceeding set limits. Changes have been made to the material of the pylons, which have also been raised, while engines and propellers have been standardised for all competing pilots.

In addition to the World Championship, the 2014 edition sees the introduction of the Challenger Cup, where eight rookie pilots will get a chance to race and an opportunity to step up to the championship in the future.

The action packed programme at the Adrenaline Zone will include a number of appearances by drift king Abdo Feghali, stunt bike rider Shadi Al Dhaheri, Spanish flatlands biker Viki Gomez, and Romanian trial biker Robert Kovacs.

Ticket sales have begun and are available through redbullairrace. com, Virgin Megastores across the UAE and at booths set up on the Corniche.
