  • The season-ending Ashurst Triathlon Festival (TriFest) returns for the third year running on March 31 in what promises to be the biggest edition yet.

Taking place in Jebel Ali, the event promises calm clear water and closed roads with athletes of all ages and abilities taking part.

New for 2017 is an event within the event ‘triFIRST’ – aimed specifically at Fitness First members – with more than 100 teams expected to take part, many of them first-timers.

The multi-sport weekend, organized by Race ME, hosts multiple distance triathlons including Super Sprint (375m swim/10km bike/2.5km run), Sprint (750m swim/20km bike/5km run) and Olympic (1,500m swim/40km bike/10km run) distances for individuals as well as teams of two or three people.

For the kids there are two race categories Tiny Tri (200m swim/5km bike/1km run) and Teeny Tiny Tri (100m swim/2.5km bike/500m run). The event is further boosted by a full range of family entertainment as well as food and beverage stands.

Registration for the Ashurst TriFest weekend is open to individuals in age group categories and teams of two or three athletes. Entries close on 28th March. More information on categories and prices can be found at www.race-me-events.com or www.premieronline.com.
