    TOP STORY

World champions France came from behind to beat Germany 2-1 with a second-half double from Antoine Griezmann in their Nations League clash.

Germany had impressed in the first half and went ahead through a penalty from Toni Kroos.

Les Bleus, though, improved after the break and were level when Griezmann looped a header into the far corner on 62 minutes.

The Atletico Madrid striker then converted a penalty with 10 minutes left to inflict a sixth defeat in the past 10 games for Joachim Low’s squad, who remain bottom of Group One with just one point from three matches.

Elsewhere, Brazil secured a last-gasp victory over South American rivals Argentina when Miranda headed an injury-time goal to win in Saudi Arabia.

An otherwise unremarkable contest, in which Argentina were without Lionel Messi, and Neymar and Philippe Coutinho were among those to disappoint for Brazil, was finally settled when the central defender was left unmarked to head in from a corner.

    FOOTBALL

Antoine Griezmann revealed France had “a quiet word” in the dressing room at half-time which helped the world champions produce a comeback to beat Germany 2-1 in their Nations League clash.

Meanwhile, Argentina’s caretaker Lionel Scaloni insisted his team showed they are ready to “take on the whole world” despite their disappointing late defeat by rivals Brazil.

In other news, Wales boss Ryan Giggs challenged his players to win their Nations League group after seeing them edge past the Republic of Ireland without star men Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey.

Debutant Fakhar Zaman and skipper Sarfraz Ahmed fell six runs short of a century as Pakistan recovered from a dreadful start to take a slight edge going into the second day of the second Test in Abu Dhabi against Australia.

Batting first at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Pakistan were reeling at 57-5 as off-spinner Nathan Lyon took four wickets in six deliveries. Azhar Ali (15), Haris Sohail (0), Asad Shafiq (0) and Babar Azam (0) all departed after Mitchell Starc removed Mohammad Hafeez for four.

Zaman and Sarfraz put on a vital 147-run stand for the sixth wicket before falling to Marnus Labuschagne as Pakistan scored 282.
