    TOP STORY

Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari admitted his side’s win at Huesca was not pretty but felt the points were all that mattered.

Gareth Bale scored the only goal as Real moved into the LaLiga top four with a hard-fought 1-0 win over the bottom side on Sunday.

The blustery conditions made football difficult at El Alcoraz while Huesca battled hard and forced several good saves from Real’s Thibaut Courtois.

Solari said on realmadrid.com: “It was an imprecise, stop-start and very windy game. The wind is a factor which leads to sloppiness, even more so than the rain.

    FOOTBALL

Romelu Lukaku believes he has finally emerged from his post-World Cup slump, with the Manchester United striker feeling more aggressive and the benefits of shedding muscle added for Russia.

A promising first season at Old Trafford has been followed by a largely frustrating second campaign under Jose Mourinho, with the 25-year-old struggling to make an impact in front of goal.

But Lukaku is belatedly showing positive signs again, having ended his 12-match goalless streak for United at Southampton last weekend and netted at Old Trafford for the first time since March in Saturday’s 4-1 win against Fulham.

In other news, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists he was never worried about Mohamed Salah living up to last season’s remarkable 41-goal campaign.

Egypt striker Salah made it 10 Premier League goals for the season with his hat-trick in Saturday’s 4-0 win at Bournemouth that sent Liverpool top of the league.

Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon said his players believe they can pull off victory in the opening Test against India in Adelaide.

The hosts face an uphill task to save the first Test after ending Day Four requiring 219 runs more run with six wickets remaining, after finishing on 104-4 at stumps.

India resumed their second innings in a commanding position on 151-3 and added a further 156 runs on Sunday in Adelaide to leave Australia chasing a target of 323.
