Barcelona extended their lead at the top of La Liga to ten points with victory over Real Madrid on Saturday night, in a game watched by the club’s Dubai-based fans. RAKBANK hosted an exclusive screening of El Clasico at the Belgian Cafe, Rooftop Grand Millennium, Barsha Heights, with Barcelona fans and selected users of the RAKBANK FC Barcelona Platinum Mastercard Credit Card.

Fans watched on the big screen as Ivan Rakitic’s first half goal was enough to secure all three points for the champions. It was the second time in a week that Ernesto Valverde’s side has triumphed over Madrid, having also beaten them last Wednesday in the Copa del Rey semi final.

RAKBANK treated guests to food and beverages to celebrate the partnership as the official credit card supplier of the La Liga Champions. Fans who spend money using the RAKBANK FC Barcelona Platinum Mastercard Credit Card, score exclusive rewards and privileges thanks to RAKBarçaRewards, including Camp Nou experiences, special offers on merchandise and rewards on dining. The race for the La Liga title now seems all but over with Barcelona ten points clear of second placed Atletico Madrid and 12 points clear of Santiago Solari’s men in third place. The league leaders always looked in control of the game with Real rarely threatening the away side. Barcelona notched up their fifth clean sheet in six games as Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet held solid at the Santiago Bernabeu as the march on to another league title.

Meanwhile Real Madrid’s season has taken a serious hit at the hands of their rivals, in the space of just four days. Having been knocked out of the Copa del Rey and any hopes of winning the league now over, barring a miracle, for another season, Madrid’s focus now is retaining their Champions League crown.
