  • On tour: Barrelhouse rugby finished 2nd in Vietnam

The Barrelhouse rugby team once again set out on their annual pilgrimage, this year to compete in the Vietnam10s in the historic city of Ho Chi Minh City.

Having arrived from Dubai in good spirits, the humidity was high as the team played their opening matches. On the first day of the tournament the team won just one of their group games, after facing stiff opposition in the opening two fixtures.

After a night’s rest, the Warriors found finally their form on day two coming back to win back-to-back games in both the quarter finals and semi-finals. In the final of the competition Dubai-based Barrelhouse came up against the Team of Kamensenryu from Japan, who showed flair and strength to beat the UAE side and take the title.

As runners up Barrelhouse took home the 2nd place Tankard, and showed the crowd just how they conduct themselves, both on and off the field. The crowd gave them a standing ovation as they exited the paddock for the last time.

The team came away from the Vietnam 10s fully of praise for the event, which according to a Barrelhouse spokesman was, “One of the slickest and well run tournament we have entered in our history and highly recommend to anyone who is looking to go play rugby Asia.”
