  • Jam packed: Offside Bar was one of the go-to destinations for this year's Rubgy World Cup

This year has been an epic one for sport, with some of the biggest tournaments taking place around the world. Earlier this month South Africa lifted the Rugby World Cup with victory over England after a memorable tournament in Japan. In the Cricket World Cup fans were treated to the most dramatic endings as England secured victory thanks to a pulsating Super Over victory over New Zealand, and earlier this week Lewis Hamilton picked up his sixth Formula 1 world title. As fans look to soak up the sporting atmosphere, and Dubai’s winter months offer the perfect place to get out and watch sport, a new bar is capitalising on the thirst for the action. Offside Bar has opened its doors, offering a new home to sports fans. Rugby fans packed the place out during the World Cup with guests parking themselves at tables from as early as 10:00.

The bar, located within the JA Ocean View hotel, JBR The Walk, shows live action on a gigantic screen, as well as a number of flat screens dotted around the venue. When the full time whistle blows there’s plenty of entertainment to keep fans occupied before the next match. Guests have the choice of playing darts, table football and pool inside or table tennis on the sprawling outdoor terrace. Offside Bar also has a number of theme nights with sporting prizes, including a weekly Monday quiz night where the winners can enjoy a 500 AED bar tab. Those looking to enter can do so with a maximum of six people, and if you fancy your chances as a lone wolf, you can enter the quiz on your own. The weekend starts early thanks to DJ Pele and DJ Sarah blasting the tunes on Thursday nights, along with drinks offers throughout the evening, and not forgetting the regular happy hour timings of 4pm – 8pm. If a game of arrows is your thing, the weekly darts tournament takes place on Tuesday nights.

No sports bar is complete without a full menu of favourites, and Offside Bar caters to a wide-range of tastes from traditional fish and chips, smoked BBQ specials such as Memphis-style pork ribs to towering match day burgers. To compliment the menu are a number of drinks offers which include a bucket of hops and nachos for 150 AED, along with hops deals offering the chance to win tickets to Premier League games.
