The second ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon will take place on December 6, bringing the world’s oldest race to the world’s most futuristic city.
The 42.195-kilometre marathon and the 10km race will both be timed and will see the participation of serious runners from different age groups and skill levels, while the 5km race and 2.5km ‘fun run’ will give participants of all ages and abilities the opportunity to get involved in the event.
The $388,000 prize fund will be spread across all the race categories, with $100,000 awarded to each of the male and female winners of the full-distance race.
Entry fees, plus VAT, are Dh350 for the full marathon, Dh150 for the 10km, Dh75 for the 5km and Dh50 for the 2.5km.
International athletes Marius Kipserem, Evans Chebet, Feyisa Lilesa Gemechu and Chumba Chebichii will all line up, with 2019 Milano Marathon record holder Vivian Kiplagat also competing in Abu Dhabi Marathon.
H.E. Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said: “The second edition of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon is set to be the Emirate’s biggest and best sporting event yet. We have changed the race route slightly to allow runners to hear the cheers of supporters from the event village on the South Plaza.
“With the addition of 2XU, we can make sure that our runners are equipped with the best sports apparel to perform to the best of their abilities and surpass their goals.”
An all-new venue for the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon event village – at ADNOC’s impressive headquarters – will play host to the event’s central hub where runners and spectators can enjoy a variety of family-focused fun activities.
Located close to the Corniche and the start/finish line, this new venue will bring visitors even closer to the race action.
