Habtoor Polo Team victorious in the IFZA Silver Cup 2021 final

  • Champions: Habtoor Polo team won the IFZA Silver Cup

    Habtoor Polo team won the coveted IFZA Silver cup final with victory over UAE Polo team.

    The final saw two of the region’s top teams battling it out for the first silverware of the Dubai Open and ended 11 – 8.5 in Habtoor Polo’s favour thanks to an inspired performance from Facundo Sola, who was on the scoresheet no less than seven times.

    The UAE Polo team had taken an early lead through Guillermo Willington before two penalties from Sola turned the game on its head. The highlight of the match saw a thunderous 60-yard goal from Felix Esain in the third chukker.

    In the other game of the day, the Hilden Cup Final, Zedan Polo tackled IFZA-Mahra Polo in a closely fought contest which ended in a 9-6 win for Zedan Polo.

    IFZA-Mahra opened the scoring with a goal from Segundo Amadorri, however the lead didn’t last long thanks to quick fire goals from Zedan Polo team patron Amr Zedan and Jeronimo del Carril who scored three goals for the team.

    Zedan Polo kept the momentum going during the second chukker and opened a four-goal lead. The penultimate chukker saw Tariq Al Habtoor score one back for IFZA-Mahra followed by another goal from Isidro Strada. However, Zedan Polo held out to close the game and seal victory.

    Martin Pedersen, Chairman of International Free Zone Authority awarded the teams of the day with Facundo Sola as the Most Valuable Player and Nobu, ridden by Tomas Panelo as the Best Playing Pony.
