Eighth edition of FBMA International Show Jumping Cup wraps up

  • Successful weekend: The eighth edition of the FBMA International Show Jumping Cup was held over the weekend

    The Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club played host to top equestrian local and international talent as 131 competitors from 26 different countries faced off across three-days of competition for the eighth edition FBMA International Show Jumping Cup.

    The three-day tournament featured female nationals and novice show jumping talent among the 12 different categories which saw competitors take home a share of the 500,000 AED prize fund.

    On the first day a total of 70,000 AED was distributed in three categories, Competition 1 (CSIYH1* – One Round Against the Clock) 30,000 AED, Competition 2 (CSIJ-A – One Round Against the Clock) 20,000 AED and ended with the NATIONAL – Two Phase category of 20,000 AED.

    The second day a total of 150,000 AED was handed out to the winners of five categories being: Competition 3 (CSICh-A – One Round Against the Clock) 10,000 AED, Competition 4 (CSIU25-A – One Round Against the Clock) 20,000 AED, NATIONAL – One Round Against the Clock 30,000 AED, Competition 5 (CSIL2* – One Round Against the Clock) 30,000 AED and finally Competition 6 (CSIL2* – Special Two Phase) with a total of 60,000 AED.

    The final day of the cup ended with a total of 305,000 AED that were divided into six different categories: Competition 7 (CSICh-A – One Round with Jump Off) 20,000 AED, Competition 8 (CSIJ-A One Round with Jump Off) 30,000 AED, Competition 9 (CSIYH1* One Round with Jump Off) 50,000 AED, Competition 10 (CSIU25-A – One Round with Jump Off) 30,000 AED, Competition 11 (CSIL2* – One Round with Jump Off) 50,000 AED finally the category with the highest cash prize, Competition 12 (CSIL2* – One Round with Jump Off GRAND PRIX) 125,000 AED.

    The cup was held under the patronage of HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and under the guidance of HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chairwoman of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy and the President of the Abu Dhabi and the Al Ain Ladies Clubs.

    The first place winners announced on the first day were Emirati national Eisa Omran Al Owais for the CSI Junior’s class (CSIJ-A), Chadi Ghraib from Syria for the CSI young horses (CSIYH1*) and Victoria Jade Laing representing Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club for the (NATIONALS).

    The first place winners announced on the second day of the cup were Mabkhout Owaida AlKirbi from UAE for the CSI Children’s class (CSICH-A); Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi from the UAE for the (CSIU25-A), Maryam Ahmed Abdulmalik from Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club for the (NATIONALS), Tina Lund from Denmark for the (CSIL2*) and Amelia Moscicka from Poland for the (CSIL2*).

    The first place winners announced on the third day were Layth Ghurayeb from Syrian for the (CSICh-A); Abdullah Hamad Ali Alkirbi from UAE for the (CSIJ-A); Chadi Gharib from Syria for the (CSIYH1*); Moufi Owaida Al Karbi from UAE for the (CSIU25-A); Aya Hamcho from Syria for the (CSIL2*); Anita Annika Sande from Denmark for the (CSIL2*) Grand Prix by Longines.

    Commenting on her win Denmark’s Anita Annika Sande, winner of the (CSIL2*) Grand Prix, said: “I compete in all eight editions of the FBMA Hose Jumping Cup and this is the third time I won first place. It’s a special show to my heart, and even more special that it was organized in these special circumstances. A big thank you for the organizing committee to have put in the extra effort to make it happen.”

    The annual cup achieved its underlying goals in encouraging youth and Emirati nationals to take part in sports, equestrian sports in particular, the sport of our ancestors and the legacy they left for us.

    The eighth FBMA International Show Jumping Cup relishes great support from the strategic partners; Abu Dhabi Sports Council, UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation, International Federation for Equestrian Sports, Longines, Al Shira’aa Stables, Abu Dhabi Media Company, YAS TV, Zahrat Al Khaleej, in addition to; Emirates Arabian Horse Society, Burjeel Hospital and Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority.
