  • Some of the sporting events on show in the UAE this week.

    We look at the sporting events lighting up the UAE over the next seven days including the gala UAE Rugby Awards night, the final week of the Dubai International Aquatics Championship and the visceral Neorun 2015.

    AL MARMOOM HERITAGE FESTIVAL 2015
    Monday, 6 April

    Running for 13 days up until the 11th April, the 12-day camel racing festival features trainers and camels compete from all over the region and admission is free. Races take place daily from 6.30am to 10am and from 2pm to 5pm, while the Heritage Village is open from 3pm to 9pm throughout the event.

    DUBAI INTERNATIONAL AQUATIC CHAMPIONSHIPS
    Tuesday, 7 April

    Local, expat and international competitors will flock through the stunning Hamdan Sports Complex over the course of the 11-day event. Into its second week of action, the competition closes on Saturday and entry is free.

    XEROX CORPORATE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP QF 
    Wednesday, 8 April

    The latest qualifier for the region’s most popular, award-winning corporate tournament, and the largest corporate networking event on the greens, is set to take place at Yas Links Golf Club, Abu Dhabi, on April 8, with shotgun play starting at 1pm.

    UAE RUGBY AWARDS
    Thursday, 9 April

    The second UAE Rugby Awards will celebrate the sport’s past year in the country with a gala event on the lawns of the Montgomerie, Dubai. As well as dishing out trophies across 16 categories, the evening will also feature a Q&A with former World Cup winners Joe Roff and Steve Thompson as well as World Rugby CEO Brett Gasper.

    NEORUN 2015
    Friday 10 April

    Thousands of runners will deck themselves in neon colours to fill the Dubai Autodrome with one of the most visceral running races in the world. The night event will also have DJs and plenty of attractions to keep all participants and their cheerleaders entertained.

    BEACH POLO CUP
    Thursday 9 – Saturday 11 April

    The 2015 edition of the Dubai Beach Polo Cup comes with added patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council. Attracting some of the best polo players around the world, the event is one of the most respected on the scene.
