If you’ve been reluctant to hit the greens this summer due to the sweltering heat, now is the time to dust off the clubs and get back on the course at Yas Links’ Summer Open.
The popular tournament hosted by the first links golf course in the Middle East returns to the nation’s capital on August 22 to give players a chance to show their skills against their peers.
You won’t have to worry about being shown up by any professionals either as the tournament, which will be played in individual Stableford format, is open to amateurs only with a valid handicap certificate.
Whether you’re a regular on the greens or just a beginner, golfers of all abilities and ages are welcome to play.
Even if you’re not the most well-rounded player, the Men’s Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin, as well as the Ladies Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin challenges provide more opportunities to win prizes.
For the overall competition, prizes will be awarded to first and second place in Category A for the 0-14 course handicap and Category B for the 15-36 course handicap.
The tournament entry fee for Yas Links members is Dh100, while the cost is Dh350 for Emirates Golf Federation members, Dh400 for visiting guests and Dh195 for juniors.
Included in the fee is fruit juice on arrival and a buffet lunch/dinner following play. Players will also get full use of the practice facilities for warm-up, one round of golf on the links course and use of a shared golf cart with GPS navigation.
If you want to get a leg-up on the competition, entrants are eligible for a weekday-only practice round from August 16-20 for Dh199.
The tournament will tee-off with 07:30 and 13:30 shotgun starts, followed by the prize presentation upon completion of play.
