  • It’s almost nostalgic each time you step into a room full of water bottles, lots of excited people, an enthusiastic coach, and amazing music. You might even hate yourself for the gruelling workout that is about to transpire, however you always thank yourself once it’s been completed. That’s the beauty of cycling.

There’s no doubt that cycling is great for you and even better with a group of like minded people. Let’s take a closer look at some of the benefits of cycling and where you can go both indoor and outdoor in Dubai to get your cycling fix.

    A Ton of Calories Burned

Cycling has to be one of the best cardiovascular exercises for shedding huge amounts of calories. If you’re looking to lose some unnecessary weight, cycling (along with a good diet) has the ability to shift unwanted pounds…..and fast! For example, the average indoor spin class lasts approx 45 minutes and an average person can expect to burn between 400-600 calories during this workout. Some people can even burn as many as 700+ calories. If you elect to hit the pavement and cycle outdoors, you will burn just as many calories and even more if you choose to venture into the hills.

    Easy on the Joints

Another major benefit of cycling is the lack of major stress on the lower limb joints. Getting on the bike really is a great alternative to running. The circular motion of cycling allows a more natural flexion and extension of the knee joint and is worlds away from the jolting of the knees and hips you might get from pounding the pavement when running. Cycling is really low impact and a great exercise for all types of people.

    Decreased Stress

Aside from burning massive amounts of calories and protecting your precious joints, cycling contributes a lot to lowering your stress levels. What is known as the ‘cyclers high’ holds true as the rush that cyclists experience is a release of mood enhancing endorphins. In essence, endorphin release leads to positive emotions, a high level of euphoria, and a strong combative force against stress.
